There's a moment every woman knows.
You stand in front of your wardrobe. Nothing feels good enough. You try on one more dress, look in the mirror, and for a second — just a second — you wonder if the problem is the clothes, or if it's you.
It's never you.
It was never you.
That belief is the only reason PurelyFable ever existed.
And it's the reason a woman with no investors, no safety net, and not even a steady hand on a sewing machine — started a quiet, fierce adventure in her bedroom in an old London flat, with her fiancé by her side, and a hope more stubborn than the fog rolling over the Thames.
He was an engineer. He knew nothing about lace or pleats.
But he took me to dusty fabric markets at 3 a.m., and when my first sample fell apart, he hung it quietly on the wall and said, "That's your first lesson."
He never asked if this would work — because for him, falling down beside me mattered more than pointing the way from a safe distance.
Why "PurelyFable"
People always ask me what it means.
Purely — honest, unblended.
Fable — a story.

The day we got engaged, he watched me struggle to find bridesmaid dresses. Seven shops. Not one felt "good enough" — the fabrics were cheap, the cuts cold, as if those dresses were made for a single camera flash, not for a girl's most precious memory.
He said, "Why don't you make your own? The kind that's… purely like a fable."
Later, our daughter grew up here.
The first full sentence she ever spoke wasn't "Mama" or "Papa" — it was "This dress is beautiful."
She inherited her mother's love for French romance and her father's obsession with every single stitch. If you ever met her at PurelyFable, you'd remember her — her smile was like the sunlight catching our lace.
PurelyFable was never just a brand.
It was a promise the three of us made: that every girl, on every day worth remembering, would become her own heroine. 🤍
How it began
Every beautiful thing starts with a thought you can't let go.
I was tired. Tired of fast fashion that made bridesmaid dresses feel like plastic raincoats. Tired of shops that believed guests should only wear "subtle, don't-steal-the-spotlight" colours. Tired of walking into bridal boutiques where the saleswoman's eyes followed only the bride — as if a guest, a bridesmaid, a mother, didn't deserve something truly beautiful.
So we made a different kind of place.
It never felt like a brand. It felt like a close friend who knows your taste perfectly, opening the door to her Parisian apartment and saying, "Pick one. You'll look amazing in anything."
Languid French dresses, sweet bridesmaid gowns, elegant guest looks — every cut was for a real, living, breathing woman on her way to a long-awaited dinner, or a reunion after years apart.
PurelyFable launched quietly one spring. And from the very first day, women felt the difference.
The feeling of being seen. Not needing to change yourself for a dress — only needing the dress to help you shine.
What London taught us
The city gave us back more than we expected.
You came looking for one dress to wear to your best friend's wedding, and ended up trying on seven, sending photos to your mum.
You brought your newlywed best friend to choose a "reception battle dress" and ended up crying together in the fitting room.
You wrote to me that a certain French tea dress made you feel, at your ex's wedding, like you'd won the breakup.
You wore our gown to your daughter's graduation and said it was the first time since giving birth that you felt "alive again."
When a woman trusts you with moments like these — her best friend's wedding, her sister's engagement, her 30th birthday — you never, ever take that trust lightly.
We never did. Twenty-seven years, from London to farther places, not once.
Every thread, every inch of lace I chose for PurelyFable, was for you.
Not for a runway mannequin, not for a trend that would die next season, not because someone declared "this is the year of purple."
You — a real, three-dimensional, flesh-and-blood woman who has a client meeting on Wednesday, a bridesmaid duty on Saturday, and next month, the person you love most standing in front of you, waiting for your truest smile.
We learned so much from you.
We learned how hard "effortless French chic" really is — and how worth it.
We learned that raising the waistline of a bridesmaid dress by two centimetres makes every girl in the photos laugh more comfortably.
We learned that when you wear a dress that truly belongs to you, your posture changes, your eyes change, the way you hold a bouquet changes.
London made us keep getting better.
And now, twenty-seven years later, it's time to say goodbye.
Why we're closing
This wasn't an easy decision. How could it be, after twenty-seven years of stitches, late-night tears, and a dream sewn together with the people I love most?
Twenty-seven years later, our daughter is about to leave for university.
My husband and I have decided to take the time that's left — and give it to us, and to the soon-to-be-empty home we built.
Life has a way of knocking on your door and telling you some things can't wait. Writing this hurts. But we know it's right.
What I want you to understand is this: we aren't closing because we stopped caring.
We're closing because we cared too much — about these dresses, about every woman who wore them, about the promise we made to "always be true" — to ever accept a tomorrow that was rough, half-hearted, or "good enough."
PurelyFable may close its last page.
But your story — the day you wore our dress, the well-wishes you received, the smile in your photos — that's the fable that will never end. 🤍
The last of London
This is our final act.
We have cleared the last of our London stock. French vintage dresses, resort maxi dresses, lace tea gowns, bridesmaid styles — the pieces we are most proud of from these twenty-seven years.
There will be no restock. No next season. When they're gone, the door closes for good.
I want these dresses to go to women who will truly wear them.
Not a warehouse shelf. Not a markdown bin. You.
Up to 85% OFF final clearance.
Every piece carries the heart of our family.

For the women who've been with us
If you've been with PurelyFable since those early London days — thank you.
You believed in us before we had any real reason to expect it. You gave us a chance. You spread the word not because we asked, but because you genuinely wanted the women in your life to feel what you felt when you found us.
That kind of loyalty is rare. We have never forgotten it. Not for a single day.
This closing is yours to grieve as much as it is ours.
Everything we built here, we built with you in mind.
For the women just finding us
Welcome. We're so glad you're here — even now, even at the end.
However you found us — through a friend, an ad, or simply the right moment — we hope you stay long enough to feel what this place is.
PurelyFable has always been, at its core, a space for women who want to feel good in what they wear and good about how they got it.
We believe in quality that lasts. We believe in style that's personal, not prescribed.
Browse at your own pace. Find what catches your eye. Trust what you're drawn to.
We think you'll find something. Most women do.
One woman. One man. A daughter.
And thousands of women worth dressing beautifully.
It still feels surreal to write these words — that what started in a bedroom in London, just the two of us and a dream neither of us could let go of, became a place where our daughter grew up, where real women made it a part of their real lives, and where something truly beautiful was built.
But good things have a way of leaving something behind when they go.
And what we built PurelyFable on will always be true:
Every woman deserves to feel at home in what she's wearing.
Every woman deserves a space made with her mind.
Every woman deserves to look in the mirror and feel exactly like herself — just on a really, really good day.
We built that space. For twenty-seven years, we gave it everything we had.
Thank you for letting us.
For the last time, with all the love — from London. 🤍
